College Road Trip

Next up, a movie about a girl who is looking at colleges and has a very overprotective father. I'm sure I won't be the same way when the kid goes to college..... OK maybe I'm lying. 

The movie was good and entertaining overall. Sometimes that is all you need. 

Campus Confidential

Next up is an ABC Family Original Movie, Campus Confidential - starring Christy Carlson Romano! We just saw her as the mean girl in Cadet Kelly and now she is dealing with mean girls of her own. 

I liked the story line but couldn't get passed Cornelia being the same girl from Drive Me Crazy which came out 6 years before and she played a high school teenager in that movie, too! It must be nice to still be able to pass for a teenager. 

I feel like this movie came out when ABC Family was making lots of original movies. I can't remember the last time a new one came out. I'd better look into this! 

Cadet Kelly

On to another classic DCOM - Cadet Kelly! Hilary Duff and Christy Carlson Romano in their Prime Disney years. Amazing.

This movie has a fun competition and some cute romance. It is one of my favorite DCOMs. I especially liked how quirky and different Kelly was when everything else was uniform. 

Brink!

On to a Disney Channel Original Movie, Brink!

It is another rollerblading movie but is more focused on the sponsored teams and competitive sports side of it. I've always liked this one and what pre-teen didn't have a crush on the stars?! This is one I definitely enjoyed re-watching. 

Brave New Girl

Next up is an ABC Family original, "Brave New Girl". 

Britney Spears had something to do with the movie and the novel it was based on. It was about a girl who goes to a performing arts school after her brother dies and we watch her struggle to get used to her life there. 

Back Home

In this movie, a young girl is evacuated to America at the start of World War II and has just returned after the war to England. Adjusting to the lifestyle and culture of England after spending her formative years in America seems to be a big struggle as she now considers herself American. 

It wasn't a very entertaining movie but I suppose it was a bit educational. The girl liked to use stencils, especially on the walls, so I took inspiration from that and used some circle stencils and paint on my scrapbooking project. 

Avalon High

It is time for another Disney Channel Movie. This one is called Avalon High.

The actress from the recent Tomorrowland movie is in this and I so desperately wanted to like her Disney Channel movie but something about it seemed off. It all felt rushed and almost like for a second they were surprised that the Camelot characters were reincarnated and then a second later they got over it. But Disney sure loves to make movies about Arthur and Merlin! 

Since I watched most of the movie myself, I did the activity myself with a friend at work. We went for a walk at lunch through a trail, much like the one that Allie and Will run on in the movie. 

Amy

The next movie on our list is called Amy. I watched this one alone but thought it was very moving! I don't think it is one my little guy would sit still for, though. 

The movie was about a woman who leaves her rich lifestyle and husband to teach poor deaf kids how to speak. Then she has her kids play football against a team from another school and I'm sure you can guess who wins. I found the movie emotional and a lot better than I was expecting. I have also been wanting to learn ASL for a while now, especially after watching Switched at Birth on ABC Family. 

We didn't really use the movie as inspiration to start school - I'm sure every kid is doing this activity right now - but it was a significant day for the kid. He is starting at a new school and learning new rules and all sorts of crazy things they teach kindergartners these days, much like Amy does in the movie.
