Eddie's Million Dollar Cook Off

A DCOM about a boy who falls in love with cooking. It was definitely not a story I heard before and I ended up liking most of the movie.

Really, I was just annoyed with the dad. Everyone knows kids can be lame and tease each other for every little thing but the dad in this movie really bothered me when he wouldn't let his kid pursue his interests and made him feel so bad about it that he agreed to continue playing baseball for him. I am happy to say he does change his tune by the end.

Now to make my husband watch some Food Network shows until he falls in love with cooking, too... .

Double Teamed

Time for a sports-themed DCOM! And possibly the only time Disney used two different actresses to play identical twins instead of using the split screen method!

I love this movie because I like basketball, I think twins are neat, and it came out when I was still interested in DCOMs as a teen.

Don't Look Under the Bed

This is a Disney Channel Original Movie that has a bit of a Halloween feel to it since it is about a boogey man and imaginary friends.

I did not like this movie and it took me at least 4 tries to actually get through the whole thing. It apparently has some strong fans, though.

Descendants

Next up is another DCOM - Descendants! I liked the movie. I'm a fan of continuing on classics or re-telling them. I thought this was a clever spin.

If you are looking for a DCOM with music that isn't your typical teens in a high school or camp or beach setting and has some familiar characters, then this is the movie for you.

Den Brother

Next up on the list is a Disney Channel Original Movie about a kid who pretends to be a Den Mother to help out his little sister's troop while he is suspended from his hockey team.

It was an OK movie. I wasn't too impressed. I don't mind the little girl, though. She is in one of the current TV shows.

Dadnapped

The other day we watched Emily Osment in Cyberbully and now we are watching her in Dadnapped, filmed 2 years earlier. This movie is a DCOM about a girl who wants to go on a vacation with her father who happens to be a famous author. He gets "dadnapped" by some fans and she has to save him.

Cow Belles

Time for another Disney Channel Original Movie with some of my favorite celebrity sisters, Aly and AJ!

In this movie, the girls play spoiled teens who are put to work at their dad's dairy. They start off very bad at their jobs. Someone steals all the money from the dairy's account and the girls have to help the workers save the dairy.

Cloud 9

It is time for a fairly recent DCOM! This one has Dove Cameron in it and I am just loving her these days - so is my son! He didn't watch this one with me but I'm certain he will want to watch it soon when the snow starts coming.

I tend to like the winter sports movies from Disney. They are exciting. This one was good, as far as the Disney Channel Original Movies go.

Cars Toons: Mater's Tall Tales

Next up is a few episode shorts from Pixar, mostly about Mater. If you really like Cars and love Mater, then these shorts are for you. If you cannot stand Mater and the annoying things he says and does, then skip it.

It keeps the kid entertained but I'm OK not seeing it again. I'm more excited for Cars 3.

Can of Worms

Can of Worms is one of the stranger DCOMs. I struggled getting through this one.

The boy decides he doesn't want to live on Earth anymore because he is a weirdo and this makes all the aliens believe that they can come invade Earth now and it is just very strange. And that girl is from Parenthood. I'm glad I didn't see this when I was younger because I wouldn't have been able to sleep.

Camp Rock 2

We're back with the sequel to Camp Rock, a DCOM.

I guess I liked the first one better, but this one did have a bit more story going on with a competing camp and the back story of the camp's owner. I also liked to see the different styles back and forth with the two camps.

Camp Rock

Moving along with another DCOM, we watched Camp Rock. This was huge when I was in college (as were the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato) but I had never seen it before now. I think it was because I was anti-Jonas Brothers at the time. I figured they were just brunette Hansons or something. Anyway...

It isn't my favorite, but it was alright. The kid liked the songs and the overall story was cute. Apparently it was such a big hit at the time they released a sequel... so on to that one!

Cadet Kelly

On to another classic DCOM - Cadet Kelly! Hilary Duff and Christy Carlson Romano in their Prime Disney years. Amazing.

This movie has a fun competition and some cute romance. It is one of my favorite DCOMs. I especially liked how quirky and different Kelly was when everything else was uniform.

Buffalo Dreams

It is time for another DCOM, Buffalo Dreams.

I found this one to be a little boring. The kid and the annoying kids he races let the buffalo out and almost cause a stampede and then the good kids save the day. That is pretty much the gist of the movie. The end!

Brink!

On to a Disney Channel Original Movie, Brink!

It is another rollerblading movie but is more focused on the sponsored teams and competitive sports side of it. I've always liked this one and what pre-teen didn't have a crush on the stars?! This is one I definitely enjoyed re-watching.

Bad Hair Day

This movie came out earlier this year on The Disney Channel. I like DCOMS so this was right up my alley. The girl is a bit awkward and funny trying to figure out her life and the cop is hilarious and also trying to figure out her life. It is a cute movie and I enjoyed it. The kid enjoyed it as well, especially because the actress in it is in one of his favorite Disney Channel TV shows right now.

Taking our inspiration from the beautiful and sparkly necklace in the movie, the kid made his own necklace with sparkly beads.

Avalon High

It is time for another Disney Channel Movie. This one is called Avalon High.

The actress from the recent Tomorrowland movie is in this and I so desperately wanted to like her Disney Channel movie but something about it seemed off. It all felt rushed and almost like for a second they were surprised that the Camelot characters were reincarnated and then a second later they got over it. But Disney sure loves to make movies about Arthur and Merlin!

Since I watched most of the movie myself, I did the activity myself with a friend at work. We went for a walk at lunch through a trail, much like the one that Allie and Will run on in the movie.

Alley Cats Strike

It is time for another fun Disney Channel Original Movie - Alley Cats Strike! I remember watching this movie when it came out - so good. And now you look at the cast and it is mind-blowing. Yep! That's Penny from Big Bang Theory. Hah!

This movie was fun to watch because it brought a little popularity to bowling - which by the way, is so fun and it was my first date with the Mr. It also had a bit of a 50's vibe going on and I love seeing the retro clothes and music in a more modern environment.

Of course we went bowling for our activity. It just so happens that our baseball team was having a banquet at the bowling alley so we were very excited to get to do this activity for free!

No, that is not a fireball or special magic powers the kid possesses. Just a shiny yo-yo or something.

Airborne

This week we watched Airborne. This movie showed up on a Disney Channel Premiere Film list so I decided to include it.

First of all, this cast! Seth Green, Jack Black, Shane McDermott (who I'm pretty sure every pre-teen watching this movie would have a crush on). The kid and I giggled every time someone got confused when Mitchell kept calling them "bra". The movie was funny and I like rollerblading and hockey so that was fun to watch, too. The girl in this movie was definitely in an episode of Boy Meets World, I'm sure of it.

The kid practiced his rollerskating, although we didn't go down any crazy hills and streets like they did in the movie. Maybe when he's a bit older!

A Ring of Endless Light

This week everyone ditched me and I watched a Disney Channel Original Movie on my own. Whatever, guys, I can have fun, too.

This movie had a crazy cast with people who later went on to make some teen drama TV shows. I loved the part about dolphins, because dolphins are cool, but the rest of the story was a little off. And that grandpa who was denying he was sick sure sounds like some people I know! I think I would have liked this movie more if I were maybe 11 and really into the beach and ocean.

For our activity/craft, the kid and I painted oceans. They are lovely and different. :)
