A Christmas Carol

This week we watched Disney's film adaptation of A Christmas Carol.

I guess you could say we are keeping Christmas all year long...

I didn't like the animation on this one. I know it was 3D in theaters but it was bothering my eyes and I fell asleep! Frank didn't like this version as much as others that he has seen. I think my favorite version of this story is The Muppets version. Of course, the kid likes ghosts.

Since it isn't Christmastime I decided to take inspiration from the past/present/future aspect of the story and asked the kid what his happiest memory was, what makes him happy now, and what will make him happy in the future. It was amusing. I'm going to put this into his current scrapbook and ask him the same questions next year.

A Bug's Life

Moving on to our first Pixar movie in the challenge!

We loved watching A Bug's Life. It was the kid's first time seeing it and it is fun to watch him fall in love with the same characters I did when I was little. My favorites were the caterpillar and lady bug - they are so funny. Other than that, bugs freak me out.

We decided to make another dessert- this time it was Dirt! Some call it Mud. Either way, it is yummy.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

This week we watched 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.

It is possible I was too sugared up to watch this movie. My son and I kept chit chatting and Frank was getting frustrated that we were being distracting. I guess I couldn't follow along with the plot in the beginning so I started to ignore the rest of it. Chris seemed to like some parts, like the giant squid and how they were able to walk under water.

We took inspiration from the beautiful fish floating around the submarine and made some Jello Fish Shapes. Delicious.

16 Wishes

It is time for our first DCOM! I love Disney Channel Original Movies, but haven't watched any of the ones made in the past 5 years. This one is technically not promoted as an "Original Movie", but it premiered on the Disney Channel so humor me.

My son is in love with Debby Ryan from Jessie, so he was super excited to watch her in this movie. She's adorable in it and he ended up watching it three more times this weekend. Even though he loved it and her so much, he somehow ended up only giving three stars! I think the movie was too girly for Frank. I thought it was cute, but I kept trying to justify why there would be random birthday magic in this otherwise normal world. Also I was kind of hoping she'd at least re-wish the car back when they gave her a birthday do over.

We decided to make a list for the kid with random activities to do and let him blow out the candles just like in the movie. He liked having the power to make all the decisions.
